Should Virgin Hair Have a Smell????

 Hi Ladies!!! It has been a while.  Today I was emailed this general question, so I have decided to address it for you all. First I do not think any hair should have any smell at all. It just is not natural. BUT.................

sometimes a smell on hair may not be avoidable. Think about this: Have you ever been to a club that people were allowed to smoke, and you come home and your hair smells like smoke? It has happened to me many times. 

What we have found is sometimes hair smells like the factory it was sourced in. 

I think the biggest think is knowing the difference between a chemical/cornchip smell, and just a factory smell. 

Sourcing hair is big business now, so it is done in factories. This sometimes causes a smell and I found this out once I visited our vendors property. The thing is, a long time ago, this would have been unheard of. Today, it is becoming more common I am seeing. I have seen some really amazing hair come delivered with a slight odor. Before, I would be alarmed, but again, I have now seen some amazing hair that I would have missed out on. 

I do have a tip: If your hair has any type of smell, you can wash your hair with a tea tree shampoo and remove the smell. Most likely it is not a chemical smell. After you wash, make sure you condition your hair as well, and a really good idea would be to invest in a light leave conditioner as well.

Two Things....

Hi My loves! So I have been missing in action I must admit, but there is so much going on over at HollywoodWeaves.com , that I literally have have about 12 hrs of sleep this whole week. I wanted to take a moment to share with you the two things bringing me joy right now!

1. Our new HollywoodWeaves.com hair care line launch. We have a few products launching this month just in time for the holidays! We have a invigorating shampoo, a replenishing conditioner, a light hair oil that smells like heaven, and of course a deep condition mask! I saw the labels and the product samples a few weeks ago, and everyone in our offices are so pleased with the final product! I have been using the samples for about 4 months and my hair has grown, it is so healthy, and I have gotten the most compliments on my natural hair than ever. The great thing about our products are they are for our weave wearers to promote healthy hair care while in your protective style, and our natural clients. 
2. 36" hair. OMG, a customer ordered 1 bundle of 36" hair, and it peaked my interest for myself. Sometimes I forget about some of the great lengths of hair we have because I get busy doing operational activities. So this 36" hair order crossed my desk for a sign off, and I said to myself, Ariaka, this is your Fall look. I immediately thought of how I would wear this hair and so my love affair with this 36" hair has begun. I will post a picture of my 36" install the beginning of next week. This is going to be interesting considering my lover hates weaves lol. Business Tip...

Take some time to read! Reading is so important. I meet and talk with people all day long that do not read. I realized how costly it is not to read. People always say "my time is valuable", and it baffles me because at times I feel like my time and theirs have been wasted because they did not read.

This tip doubles for a person pursuing business ownership...

Two Things.....

Just finished a meeting for HollywoodWeaves.com and realized how these are the two things making me happy now:

1. So, the bestie and I always talk about carrying around luggage on a daily basis as a purse. Well I found the best small shoulder bag. It is so great for daily wear to meetings, shopping, and date night. Its so great, with just enough room for the important things. This is my answer to the luggage that I am guilty of loving. Virgin Hair Education: Sealing your wefts up for debate?

Hi Loves! I have a question. How do you feel about your wefts being pre-sealed by your vendor? I received an email from a customer who stated that her hair was no longer "virgin" because we sealed the wefts. Although this is not true, I never, in my 7 years of working for HollywoodWeaves.com , had heard anyone say that. It lead me to this post, because I am sure that this young woman could not be the only person who thought this. In my 7 years, we have processed over 300K orders, and it was the first time I had read that in an email, but hey, it just struck me.

Well, first ladies, sealing your wefts does not mean your hair is not virgin anymore. Virgin hair is stamped virgin, when it has not been "Chemically" altered for artificial curls or colors. Most beauty supply store hair is NOT virgin. Think about this, you purchase hair from the corner beauty supply store, you get some curly hair, those curls last weeks! lol, Well, that is not natural. Natural, virgin hair, will not hold curls weeks at a time without some maintenance. Natural curly virgin hair will act just like curly hair on your head. Sometimes it will be frizzy, sometimes beautiful and soft, but it takes work to keep it pretty.Virgin hair is free of any dyes. Most times, the hair is dark brown or light black. Depending on the origin, you may get a natural jet black. I see tons of Peruvian hair in natural jet black.

So excited that next week we will be listing our new Euro/Indian blend. This is the best of both worlds. You will get a great blend of silkyness with thickness. Tip: Iphone users....

Hi Startlets. So I had to get a new Iphone a couple weeks back and my sales person was awesome. Some of you may know but some of you may not know about the Mophie. I did not know about this device until I went into the store and the salesman sold me on it. If you are anything like me, you life is run on the Iphone. The Mophie is an additional batter that your phone drops into like a case. When you phone is about to die, the Mophie has a neat little switch that allows you to power your phone.

This is the best thing to happen to me in a long time. LOL. I love it. No more battery dying for me. If you are an Iphone user, this would benefit you!

How do you stop Virgin Indian Hair from Poofing Up?

I wanted to drop you a tip. Indian Curly hair is work at times. It is a naturally curly hair and you can ask anyone you know it is no walk in the park. I mean think of all the curly hair products that are on the market. Geesh!

Well here are a few tips for my curly hair lovers:

1. In the morning use a conditioner diluted in water and spray it on your hair. Allow your hair to air dry.
2. Also, Aragon oil is curly hair best friend. put a little in your palm and massage it through.
3. Keep the paddle brushes away. Paddle brushes only make curly hair bigger.

TIP: Removing the corn chip smell from your hair....

Hi #Starlets !
So I have seen numerous videos and emails  about some hair have a corn chip smell or some other oder from some hair companies.
First: I do not know the cause of the oder, and I want to tell you that most people who claim to know, don't know. Many people have theories, but honestly ladies, be careful, because most theories are based on benefit of the person saying it.

What I do Know: How to remove it...

1. Wash your hair with a good tea tree shampoo. My suggestion would be a generic tea tree shampoo from Sally's Beauty Supply. Our product line that comes out in October 2012 will be great for this. So you can purchase our products even if you do not purchase our hair.
2. Please do not let people tell you to wash your hair with detergent or fabric softner!!! Who does that?? Would you wash your hair growing from your head with detergent??? NO
3. After you wash your hair, make sure to conditioner your hair with a good moisturizing conditioner. 
4. Rinse your hair, Spray a leave in conditioner on your hair, and allow it to air dry.

A few of the every day tools I use to run a million dollar company...

My daily routine is stupid and it includes hundreds of emails, hundreds of calls, and hundreds of request! Sometimes my day does not even end, it just goes right into the next day! Here are a few things that I use that help get me through my chaotic day:

• Blue Ink Pen ( I take numerous notes throughout the day)


• Planning Binder: Holds major to do list, separated by tabs . For me, my tabs are: Hair Vendors, Current Online Prices, HollywoodWeaves Members, Marketing,  Calendar, Social Events, Current Promos, Reports, and a few more goodies :)


• 6 bottles of water ( drinking a bottle of water is like a vacation for me)


• A Fashion magazine  that I can read a few pages for like 5 mins a day as my break from the work lol
